99 Degrees In October, LA? The Heat Wave That Won't Let Go Of The City

Chyyy... it is OCTOBER. Pumpkin season. Cardigan season. And baby, I just looked at my phone on Larchmont and it said 99 DEGREES. Not a typo. LA is in a stranglehold and the sun is showing OFF.
THE DEAL. The National Weather Service has an Extreme Heat Warning up for the LA and Ventura coasts and valleys through THURSDAY at 8 PM — a stubborn high-pressure ridge is parked over us, sinking and warming the air, killing our sea breeze. Per the reports, we're running 15 to 22 degrees ABOVE normal. In October. Make it make sense.
THE RECORDS FELL TODAY. Per the NWS: Burbank hit 101, Camarillo and Oxnard tied their marks at 99 — and Downtown LA is on a streak of 100-degree days that almost NEVER happens this late in the year. My own 10-day says 97 tomorrow, 95 Wednesday, 92 Thursday... and then baby, Sunday sweet Sunday: 82. Relief is COMING, just not fast.
THE OCEAN IS LYING. It looks gorgeous out there — do NOT trust it. Per the NWS, dangerous rip currents and 3-to-6-foot surf are up along LA and Ventura beaches through the week. The water is not the friend today.
HOW TO GLOW THROUGH IT. Water like it's your job — and if your lips are smacking, you're already behind. Check on your people: the aunties, the newborn mamas, the ones without AC. Do the pavement hand-test before the dog walks. And there is ZERO shame in canceling plans for the indoors — the gym, the brunch, all of it will still be there Sunday.
Glowgetters, the group chat is OPEN at the bottom of this page: how are YOU beating this heat — and what's your most unhinged AC survival hack? Come argue with me. Bring ice.

Morgan's verdict
"The sun doesn't take breaks and neither do we — hydrate, check on your people, and let Sunday's 82 handle the rest."
